The Trashmen -- Surfin' Bird/ King Of The Surf 45'

  Classic Rivingtons covers by The Trashmen, that's right I said covers, Surfin' Bird is a mix of Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow and The Bird Is The Word.  What makes Surfin' Bird so great, which I probably do not have to point out, is the Wolfman Jack style vocals.  The B-side sounds nothing like the A-side.  King of The Surf sounds like a version of bad early Beach Boys, which is kinda a disappointment since the A-side is so good and influential.  I even bought the Surfin' Bird Lp in hopes of another Wolfman tune, but no dice, the record just wasn't any good!  But whatever they may have had one hit, but that one hit had a huge impact, imagine The Cramps without The Trashmen ... exactly!

G.G. Allin -- Hated In The Nation

  I used to have this CD ages ago, until some junkie c*cksmokers stole all my sh*t, when I was living in Montreal.  This album is a compilation of early material by the legendary G.G. Allin, who lived his life like an anarchistic performance artist.  It's hard to judge if he was a total idiot or just some weirdo genius who didn't give a sh*t ... does it really matter?  The comp features the best super offensive tunes you've ever heard, Allin was the king at pissing people off, rumor has it he never finished a full live set, the crowd would erupt in a full scale riot before the end of the show!  The classic You Hate Me & I Hate You will always be, in my mind, his best effort, pre-dating a Punk sound that came 8 years later.  So to those lame wads who stole my stuff, Bite It You Scum!

Fun Fact: J Mascis played lead in one of Allin's million bands!

? (Question Mark) And The Mysterians -- 96 Tears/ Midnight Hour 45'

  Let's get the fun facts outta the way.  First of all, singer Rudy Martinez actually changed his name to ?; and secondly I heard he believes, which sounds like hocus, that he is an alien messiah from the future!  Ya never know, people have thought worse ...

  Anyway this Garage Rock classic is still totally over-played on oldies radio, but who cares, it's probably one of the best songs they've got, and I love it every time.  Their sound reminds me of Sam The Sham And The Pharaohs, but with a darker creepier tone.  The B-side, Midnight Hour, has no relation to the Wilson Pickett number, it's an original with a Stonesy American Garage Punk feel.  Let's all cry 96 Tears for our favorite alien messiah from the future!

The Barbarians -- Are You A Boy Or A Girl/ Take It Or Leave It 45

  Total off-shoot of The Kingsmen, 60's Punks, known for their drummer with a hook for a hand, The Barbarians!  Are You A Boy Or A Girl is a hilarious number making fun of the whole hippie look and culture while embracing it, the B-side just sounds like another version Moulty, but not really, anyway put that in your smoke and pipe it!

Dayglo Abortions -- Feed us a Fetus

  One of Canada's leading Hardcore Punk bands.  I actually pulled it out of my old cassette collection, that I've had for who knows how long.  This album kicks f*cking ass from start to end.  They are considered a crossover band, which works for their other albums, but this one sounds more like Black Sabbath on speed.  Even-though the lyrics are for the most part intentionally stupid, there is some hidden insight and truth to what they are saying.  So Kill Hosers, get a beer and collect your welfare cheque!

Sphex -- Time/ Leaving This Crazy City 45'

  So, I'm from the same sh*tty dirty town as this band Sphex.  Just to get it over with, the A side wasn't my cup of tea, actually I thought it was awful, total classic Rock garbage.  But the B side is a Stooges style Punk Rock number.  This tune should be the city's theme song, it has a way of summing up almost every inhabitants feelings about the town.  Everyone who lives here has said those words at some point or another, so hopefully I'll be Leaving This Crazy City, but I doubt it, 'cause no one ever really does!!!

White Stripes -- Icky Thump

  Man ... I almost liked everything these guys ever did, but I especially hated this one ... sorry ... but this was a total load of horse dung!  I had to skip every song, if you can call these Led Zep keyboard/ guitared disasters songs.  Two icky thumbs way down!
