The Kinks -- Something Else By ...

  The Kinks are like the weirdo first cousins of the British Invasion movement, they had the same genetic code but with a different style.  The album is a mishmash of what was going on in Rock 'n' Roll music at the time, except they Kinks-ified it, from Baroque to Psych to Americana to everything else ... like they were trying to sum up the scene all on one album.  In the end the record is a little uneven, but who cares, it's a f*ckin' classic!

Love -- Forever Changes

  This Flamenco driven Baroque Folk Rock masterpiece is often tossed aside for what I theorize is two reasons, one the hardcore Love fans usually find this album too mellow and then the Folk Rockers find the record too weird, meaning that this great album will always fall short of finding an audience.  Personally I find it innovative how they tossed in so many musical elements and made it sound flawless and flowing ... if you're either a major Love fan or a die hard Folkster I'd give this another whirl with different ears in mind!    

The Doors

  The only album that truly exemplifies the brilliance that The Doors were supposed to have!  With the exception of The End, I found that their sound is more of a gothic surfer Blues rather than a psychedelic freakout. 

The Allah-Las

  What was a seemingly impressive Surfy Animals-esque Garage Revival outfit turned out to be way more of a powerful and interesting band than I expected ... what I found was not only their 60's influence but they've got also a sort of lazy day Jangly Shoegaze kick to their sound, making this album a must hear!

Link Wray -- Law Of The Jungle

  Law Of The Jungle spans Link Wray's career from 63 to 66, showcasing some of his best known Surf Punk hits and early vocal efforts.  This instrumental mastermind has numerous legendary admirers and influenced many genres with his raw boisterous style.   

Sonny & Cher -- Look At Us

  Drenched in super campy 60's kitch, this piece of crap debut album doesn't have much to write home about, unless you are talking about the Bluesy Garage Bo Diddley romper You Don't Love Me, otherwise stay the hell away from this one.

Television -- Marquee Moon

  Whoa man, what an epic album!  Television's Marquee Moon is a Krautish San Franciscan style New York Punk Rock jam record ... this album did so much for the scene I won't even bother getting into it ... point is if you like music at all this better be on your list!

The Hives -- Veni Vidi Vicious

  Man I thought these guys were the shit when this album came out, but now I could barely stand a few minutes of this over produced, mega poppy, revival shtick music.

The Monkees -- Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd.

  As stupid as The Monkees are they did have a couple of good numbers, one of my favorites and underrated tracks Salesman, a garagy romper, is featured on this ridiculous album, although I make fun of these idiots but there was a time when I was a boy I was obsessed with watching TV reruns on Much Music and thought they were mega cool.  And my God they were actually allowed to play their own instruments on most of the album, which had been previously forbidden, but who cares 'cause they're too busy singing to put anyone down, good thing I'm not, so f*ck The Monkees!

Lilys -- Better Can't Make Your Life Better

  What started off as a pretty good Shoegaze band quickly transformed into a killer Beatles 66' inspired Indie Rock outfit, but they never rose to the prominence they deserved!

Wild Surf

  Man I can't believe this was a pawn shop special!  This Del-Fi Surf compilation contains some killer gems from classic and underrated bands during the early days of surf 60 to 64.

The Evaporators -- Gassy Jack And Other Tales

  Ok I get it he's cool because he's so annoying and pretty much saddlebags celebrities into letting him interview them ... great, I love it.  But Nardwuar's Evaporators suck, it's a mix of Pop and Garage Punk in the worst way, the music is so irritating I had to turn it off!

The Gun Club -- The Las Vegas Story

  I'm a big fan of their first album, but The Las Vegas Story I just didn't get, it felt too loose, too polished and uninspired. 

Link Protrudi And The Jaymen -- Missing Links

  Lead by The Fuzztones frontman Rudi Protrudi, this instrumental Surf group contains no real surprises, it is what it says, Link Wray inspired Garage Punk.

The Devil's Anvil -- Hard Rock From The Middle East

  This bizarro Rock band from the Middle East has some traditional Eastern numbers but the album also features fuzzed out Garage Punk.  It was an interesting listen, one of those things you can't believe exists, but it was the 60's, man -- so everything goes! 

The Yardbirds -- Shapes Of Things

  This compilation spans most of the Yardbirds career, featuring their slew of luminary guitarists, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page.  These guys have more in commune with, and influenced, the American Garage Rock and 60's Punk scene, rather than their British Invader contemporaries.  This band served as a stepping stone to the future of the music scene by showing us the Shapes Of Things to come!  

Liverpool Five -- Arrive

  Not so great but not so bad British Invasion wannabes.  Can't say there is too much to write about other than they're fun to know!

Wavves -- King Of The Beach

  The album opens with some killer surfy Garage Punk, but as time passes the numbers change form into terrible hipster Indie garbage -- at least they didn't pull out the banjos!

The Fleshtones -- Roman Gods

  New Wave/ Garage Revival outfit The Fleshtones.  These guys are not only a pioneering Revival band but have some Rock action that foreshadows early Alternative music.

King Tuff

  I solely expected some rockin' Garage Punk when I saw the cover of this album, but King Tuff offers much more than that, there are some killer Indie sounds that will knock your sock off, explode your banjo and burn your hipster beard too!
