The Lords Of The New Church -- Is Nothing Sacred?
A super group compromised of half Brit, half American Punk Rock luminaries. There were a couple of passable numbers but for the most part I struggled listening to this Glammy gloom Death Rocked release, in answer to their question, "Is Nothing Sacred?" It looks like it's a firm NO!

Prince And The Revolution -- Around The World In A Day
Ok yeah I sometimes have a soft spot for Prince, but it's either hit or miss ... and to be honest I didn't even listen to this album at all, I tried, not very hard mind you, but I couldn't get past the first five seconds of the putrid 80's funk stink of track one side one, and let's face it if you goof that the chances that I'm going to listen to the rest are slim to none!

Bauhaus -- The Sky's Gone Out
Goth Punk pioneer's third Lp The Sky's Gone Out ... I like this album but honestly, did it knock my socks off?? Not really ... there are some killer moments, but the record feels scatterbrained, like they weren't sure what they wanted.

Les Rita Mitsouko -- The No Comprendo
Punk Synth Wave frenchy weirdos Les Rita Mitsouko. Although I really like this album primarily because of two great numbers, C'est Comme Ca and Someone To Love, the rest of it sounds so unsteady even thought they had producer extraordinaire Tony Visconti at the helm ... and there's something about mega hit Andy that sounds like an avant-garde goofy stripper song.

Devo -- Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!
Imagine getting discovered by David Bowie and Brian Eno, how f*cking cool would that be, then to have Eno produce your debut album which became your greatest contribution to Rock 'n' Roll, man my head would be more swollen than a shitty bar band who think they're awesome! Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! sounds like Television on speed, unfortunately the rest of their career wasn't as strong ...

Flamin' Groovies -- Now
This 1978 not so good but not so bad release by 60's Garage luminaries the Flamin' Groovies. Here you have an older band trying to keep up with the times, but still pumping out some pretty decent tunes. Now the album sounds like Jangly Power Pop, it's a nice try, but just isn't good enough.

Au Pairs -- Playing With A Different Sex
Man this is one helluva way way way underrated album. These guys presupposed hipster Indie Dance Punk twenty years ahead of it's time. I can't help but wonder why the Au Pairs aren't more popular and revered.

Lush -- Gala
A collection of Lush's early EPs when they started off as an ok, no surprises, run of the mill, Shoegaze band. In the latter part of their career, which starts off the album, they start to mix in elements of Dream Pop and that's where they really shine. Unfortunately this band sold out and jumped on the Brit Pop lame-train in the mid-nineties to finish off their career, no pun intended.

The Police -- Synchronicity
Man, so many people love the sh*t out of this band, I get it, they are technical masters, but really, the music is so lame and cheesy it totally forfeits whatever talent they have.

Trio
Yeah yeah they're the dudes who wrote Da Da Da, which is fitting because these Germans tackled Rock 'n' Roll with Dadaist simplicity. The album itself is either hit or miss, but it excludes my favorite Trio song of all time, Sunday You Need Love, luckily I got the 12" single yesterday!

Madness -- One Step Beyond ...
What you've got here is a three faceted album, part killer Ska, part way too British New Wave and part borderline Baggy music -- all in all a pretty good record.

The Fleshtones -- Roman Gods
New Wave/ Garage Revival outfit The Fleshtones. These guys are not only a pioneering Revival band but have some Rock action that foreshadows early Alternative music.

The Stone Roses
The album that put New Wave music on it's knees, it marked the end of a genre and the beginning of a new era, if you've never heard this before, which I hopefully doubt, listen to it RIGHT NOW!

Indochine -- 3
These guys are basically the french Cure and honestly I used to love this sh*t years ago, but lately I have a hard time sitting through one song. This album brings me back to a nostalgic happier time, chillin' in night clubs, dancing with beautiful girls and being surrounded by interesting people ... you know the days before adulthood and responsibility ...

Plastic Bertrand -- An 1
Over the top poppy Punk New Wave high pitched weirdo Plastic Bertrand, who is primarily known for super hit Ca Plane Pour Moi. The rest of the album just sounds like variations of the main track, which makes it hard to listen to entirely in one sitting. Oh well, I still love it, it's still great!

U2 -- War
First things first ... I f*cking hate U2, bonehead's annoying vocals, the cheesy ass lyrics and that goddamn irritating over effects guitar, this all equals, "turn that crap off." That aside I actually like this album, I find this is the band at the height of their shtick. I knew there was a reason these guys were so popular and it's a three letter word WAR!

Tones On Tail -- The Album Pop
Pretty much a premonition of the Gothy Dreampop formula that was going to be Love And Rockets, was done first by Daniel Ash, before he recruited ex-bandmate David J.

The Cure -- Disintegration
While having a evening alone, anti-social, dealing with my personal demons of self-loathing, feeling like a toothless hatchet-face. I have to admit I had a moment with The Cure's Disintegration, it almost seemed like the perfect setting for this particular record, and I never enjoyed it more. Side one's sound of hope was definitely an easier pill to swallow than side two's pit of total despair. The best and most surprising part of the album is its loose psychedelic jamminess, mixing synth drone with flange driven surf guitar that just "pulls on your pout."

Modern English -- After The Snow
Don't let the Melt With You pop cascade fool you, this sophomore release has dark Joy Division-esque undertones. I half expected typical 80's garbage when I picked this record up, but Melt With You is definitely the weakest number!
