Harry Nilsson -- Nilsson Schmilsson

  An eclectic pastiche of classic little ditties, the album's sound is all over the place, but has a strange brilliance that Nilsson was never able capture ever again.

Marvin Gaye -- Here, My Dear

  In the midst of personal and financial strife, dealing with the divorce of motown's label owner's sister, being forced to record an album where, as part of the settlement, all the profits go straight to his ex-wife.  Marvin at first was going to make a complete piece of crap but his loyalty to his public and strange fascination with the idea cohersed him into making a smooth, bitter, inventive, minimalsitic but complex, mellow soul album, filled with the emotional platitudes of love and marriage mixed with pain and divorce while cleverly naming it Here, My Dear ... the final fuck you to his old lady!

Apples In Stereo -- Her Wallpaper Reverie

  A strangely song interluded filled album with less actual tracks than snippets, nevertheless it's 90's indie version of the Beatles meet the Beach Boys is nothing short of brilliant!

Guided By Voices -- Under The Bushes Under The Stars

  

  Holy cow did I ever hate this grunge stereotyped, over produced, piece of crap, by the usually mega awesome Guided By Voices.  I couldn't even listen to the whole album, it's unbearablility was so great I had to put on Bee Thousands right away to save face!

Lou Reed -- Berlin

  Mostly over the top, Bob Ezrin produced, super over-indulged, mega 70's classic rock sounding, concept album Berlin, can be a hard pill to swallow at times, but it's moments of brilliance make it worth every minute -- honourable mention going to the killer flipside!

Yo La Tengo -- Fakebook

  Comprised mostly of cover songs, considered a departure of their regular sound, but I think they somehow invadvertently invented cutesy indie folk way before such a genre was even being thought of ... and making fun of Facebook a decade early -- how hip are these guys!!??

The Cure -- The Head On The Door

  This album marks the bridge between the new wave rock band and the somewhat cheery synth group, that they would become, funny, the more and more I listen to this one, the more I love it!  It has all the facets of what represents the Cure -- from goth to punk to pop!
