Black Flag -- Who's Got The 10 1/2?

  Living in a pity party, electricity-less apartment, armed only with my C battery powerered tape deck, so what better band to play but Black Flag, who else could make your frustrations feel perfectly understood with a blast of live Hardcore musical assault!!

Sheryl Crow -- Tuesday Night Music Club

  

  Holy f*ck can anyone say anything good about this candy assed, cheesy as hell, waste of musical space, piece of garbage!?  I certainly hope not!  This album is pretty much at par on the annoying meter as the Mickey Mouse club ... Sheryl Crow ... bah, more like Sheryl No!!

Surfer blood -- Astro Coast

  So I picked up this Nugaze masterpiece by one trick pony band Surfer Blood, at what is my new local record shop.   Thing is I have heard this before via YouTube, but haven't to listen to my Lp, since my new digs doesn't have power.  Looks like I'm kicking it older than old school being the inner city camper, hey don't judge, at least I got a roof, running water and some candles, I've had it much much worst, so I think I can handle this minor set back!!

Two week later footnote, I don't really like this album!!  I was wrong!  Sorry!!

A month later from the two week mark, I really liked it, I guess I'm just indifferent!!

One year later update, I sold it, and never want to hear it again!

Hole -- Live Through This

  Courtney Love is the abandoned wastecase party sister of the Riot Grrrl movement.  I could care less if the critics are singing their praises 'cause it presents 90's nostalgia for some, and let's face it they are still succeeding off the coat tails of being a sort of chick-vana for reasons I don't need to point out, otherwise I'd rather not LIVE THROUGH listening to THIS album!  

Dinosaur Jr. -- You're Living All Over Me

  You can hear hints of what was to come from Dinosaur Jr. on their debut LP, but You're Living All Over Me solidified their signature sound, mixing 80's Hardcore power with 70's stoner sludge ... and you even have a premonition of Barlow's Lo-Fi Sebadoh closing the album off, making this record the real kick start for two classic Indie Rock careers!

New Orleans R & B

  Chess records showed up late when hitting the New Orleans 50's scene, all the main acts had already been picked up.  So what you've got here is a slew of eclectic almost unknown artists, but their sound is unquestionably classic and influential!

Jackson C. Frank

  Another tragic, sad sack classic long lost Folk singer/ songwriter.  This Paul Simon produced debut album by Frank was to be his first and last release, due to bouts of depression and mental illness, but his writing style did influence a slew of his contemporaries ... unfortunately Jackson learned music hospitalized after a tragic school fire when he was a boy, then became a recluse in his closing years, living on the streets, jumping from institution to institution, getting his eye accidentally shot out by a pellet gun, and then a pneumonia induced expiry at the age of 56 ... YOW!!  Talk about your stacked decks!
